If you’re burdened with a mountain of debt, bankruptcy may be the answer. Bankruptcy is a legal process whereby the court discharges some or all of your debt. Angela handles two types of bankruptcy: Chapter 7 and Chapter 13.
Chapter 7 allows you to discharge all of your unsecured debt, but you run the risk of losing your home and other secured assets. Chapter 13 protects your home and your secured assets, but it will not discharge all of your debt. Instead, you will be required to enter into a payment arrangement where you repay a portion of your debt over time (typically three to five years).
Angela will examine your case and determine which form of bankruptcy is best for you, and she will guide you through the complex bankruptcy process, ensuring you remain in compliance with state law every step of the way.
Civil litigation is a broad area of law that involves disputes between individuals and between businesses where, generally, money (and not a criminal sanction) is sought
If you need help with an employment dispute or with general personal litigation, legal malpractice, personal injury, or worker’s compensation, Angela will handle your case with unmatched skill and professionalism.
Mediators and arbitrators are often called upon to resolve business disputes. If you are having a dispute with someone you are in a business relationship with, and the two of you are unable to find a mutually-agreeable solution, consider retaining the services of a third-party mediator. Arbitration is different from mediation. In arbitration, the arbitrator’s decision is legally-binding and favors one of the parties.
Angela has a long history of serving as a mediator—successfully resolving a number of business disputes—and she offers arbitration services across Greater Kansas City.
Probate is a court-supervised process where a deceased person’s assets are distributed to their heirs or beneficiaries. An estate typically goes through probate whether the deceased left a will or not, and an executor of the estate is appointed during probate.
Angela has represented countless estate executors, ensuring they perform their duty while adhering to probate law, and she has represented will beneficiaries and would-be will beneficiaries not included in a will. She also helps in estate planning.
Small-business owners face a myriad of legal issues, from something as simple as deciding their business’s legal designation to something as complex as drafting an air-tight multi-million-dollar contract.
